A method of reducing electrical losses in a high voltage transmission line and line section of a high voltage transmission line

A procedure for the reduction of electrical losses in a line section of a high voltage transmission line which contains an electrically conducting casing (12), at least one current-carrying conductor (11) located in the casing and at least two earth conductors (20,21) connected in electrically conducting fashion with the casing, is described. In the casing, a loss current is induced between the earth conductors by the conductor current and the electrical losses are at least partially caused by the loss current. The loss current is guided through a current control unit (31) and the loss current is controlled by the current control unit.
