Production of wear resistant surfaces on components made of aluminum-silicon alloys comprises introducing thermal energy to the surfaces to be processed so that a silicon accumulation from the base matrix or a distribution and size of silicon carbide can be adjusted on the surface; and honing the surface in such a way that the silicon carbides are exposed. Preferred Features: The thermal energy is introduced inductively or by using a laser.
