The twin belt press (100) has two continuous press-belts (1,2) each possessing a stringer (1',2') running synchronously on top of each other in a press section. The continuous veneer pack (4') is compressed and hardened under pressure and heat between the two belts. Each press-belt has a feeder (5,11) and discharge (6,12) drum positioned before or after the press section in the direction (16) in which the panels (4) run and above which each press-belt is continuously guided. The feeder drums form a roller-gap of a height corresponding to the thickness of the panels plus the sum of the thickness of the press belts.
