Removal of organic impurities from crude alpha-olefin product, from a Fischer-Tropsch process, by extractive distillation using a wash agent containing N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone
A process for the removal of organic impurities from crude alpha-olefin product recovered from a Fischer-Tropsch synthesis process by extractive distillation using a wash agent containing N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) is claimed, in which water is removed form the wash agent by regeneration to a maximum content of 1000(100), preferably 10 ppm. A process for the removal of organic impurities from crude alpha-olefin product recovered from a Fischer-Tropsch synthesis process by extractive distillation using a wash agent containing N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) is claimed, whereby the NMP containing the organic impurity is regenerated by means of extractive distillationand re-used. The crude alpha-olefin product contains water (optionally to saturation point), in addition to the organic impurities, and water is removed form the wash agent by regeneration to a maximum content of 1000(100), preferably 10 ppm.
