The positioning aid has at least 2 setting devices (13,14) spaced in the bed longitudinal direction, used for positioning the patient (12) transverse to the longitudinal direction, one of the setting devices positioned in the shoulder region and a second setting device positioned in the lumbar region. Each setting device uses a tension band (16,17) positioned beneath the patient and passed around rollers on opposite sides of the bed (11), which can be operated independently by the patient.
