The system consists of an amplifier and a magnetic actuator for controled generation of feedback by magnetic force. A distorted, harmonic-rich signal typically formed in instrument amplifiers by tone shaping the pick-up signal is fed back as the actuator drive signal. The actuator is fixed (not on the instrument) so that the player can stimulate different harmonics by positioning the strings relative to the actuator.
