The circuit has a d.c. source (UE) providing an input voltage and a converter (5) that provides the power delivered by the d.c. source to the relevant load. The converter can be operated as a d.c. to a.c. converter and as a d.c. to d.c. converter. Several storage chokes (1-n) are provided for each converter, of which each is connected via an associated pair of switches (S1,S2) to the d.c. source.
