Biomass methane silo sub-divided into quarters by top-inserted open-bottomed cylinders for inoculation and fermentation in separate batches

Generating methane, comprising placing a quantity of biomass matter in a low silo with large floor area, sub-dividing into quarters by the downward insertion into the mass of an array of open-bottomed cylindrical compartments, for the inoculation and fermentation of the charge in separate batches, is new. An Independent claim is also included for an assembly incorporating use of the cylinders described in prior claim EP 0934998-A2 figure 8, and allowing for the activation and fermentation of each compartment singly or in groups. The fermentation silo has an inner gradient preventing removal drift of the biomass under the influence of gas flow. Each cylindrical compartment has an overhead air inlet and an outlet for biogas and percolate. The silo is preferably a mobile unit with fixed or movable sidewalls.
