The safety closure for an accessible cover (3) for a rain and waste water installation beneath a road surface comprises a beam (21) located on the cover under side, laterally withdrawable from it and secured by a lock (31) against axial movement. The beam is longitudinally fittedin plates or legs (33) of a U-shaped bearing frame (19) fixed vertically to the cover. To the beam a tab (23) with a hole (25) is fixed. The tab is located over a second tab (35) with a second hole which is welded to the leg of the bearing frame. The two holes in the locking state are aligned. On the beam between the two legs of the bearing frame a stop ring (27) is fixed, which prevents the beam falling away.
