An electric machine (1) generates electric power (12) and contains an exciter coil (2) and a stator coil (4). A converter configuration (6) like a pulse-controlled inverter connects to the electric machine in an outgoing circuit. In the lower RPM range electrical power output is generated along the straight lines of moment (29). In the upper RPM range electrical power output is generated by the stator coil with a small number of windings (W2).
