Optical inspection for moving objects by line scanning employing bright and dark field illumination of object

As the object (12) moves along a conveyor (19) it is subject to bright (17) and dark (18) field illumination. As it passes through these illumination zones the surface is line scanned by cameras (13,14). These are synchronized using a speed sensor (22) and synchronizer (21) so that each camera scans the same points on the object surface. The image information from the cameras is processed in a processor (15) for evaluation, analysis and inspection. An Independent claim is included for an apparatus for optically inspecting moving objects by line scanning employing bright and dark field illumination of object.
