The system has a fixed location station (12.1) with a memory for a location-specific location identifier and for transmitting a location signal dependent on the location identifier and a mobile object unit (14.1) associated with an object or person with a memory for an object- or person-specific identifier, a receiver for the location signal and a transmitter for sending a location signal dependent on the object identifier and the location signal. Independent claims are also included for : (1) a location station; (2) an object unit for a location system; and (3) a communications unit for a location system.
