Coating compositions containing a polyfunctional carbo-silane or -siloxane, a polycondensation product of a hydrolyzable organometallic, preferably organosilicon compound, an alpha ,w-functional linear oligo-organosiloxane, an acid catalyst and optionally fillers and/or other additives. Coating compositions containing : (I) a polyfunctional carbo-silane or -siloxane of formula (I) (and/or a (partial) condensation product thereof), (II) a polycondensation product of hydrolyzable compound(s) of formula (II), with a solid content of at least 40 (preferably at least 50) wt% in a hydroxy-functional solvent, (III) an alpha ,w-functional linear oligosiloxane of formula (III), (IV) acid, basic or metal catalysts, preferably acid catalysts such as hydrochloric, sulfuric, p-toluenesulfonic, trifluoroacetic, trifluoromethanesulfonic, acetic or formic acid, and optionally (V) inorganic fillers and/or organic nano-particles; and (VI) conventional additives for coating materials.
