The workpiece fixing device (1) uses a light source (8), emitting light in the UV spectrum, for chemical conversion of a fixing adhesive between a workpiece (4) and a machining support (2). The latter is provided with a light output surface (9), e.g. a reinforced glass plate (7), incorporated in the mounting surface (3) for the workpiece.
