The windscreen (11) has a central transparent area (23) with a constant thickness and an edge area that is connected on its inner side to a vehicle chassis (10). The inside of the windscreen is connected to a flat edge element (15), which is formed so that it contacts the edge area (24) and an adjacent section of the central area (23) of the windscreen and is manufactured from a stiff material to stabilise the contact area. An independent claim is included for a method to stabilise a plastics safety windscreen for a vehicle.
