The method involves determining the real and/or imaginary part of the dielectric constant of the test substance at a number of frequencies and determining the property using the real and/or imaginary part. The real and/or imaginary part of the dielectric constant of at least one reference emulsion and/or suspension, for which the characteristic is known, can be used. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an arrangement for determining at least one property of a test emulsion and/or a test suspension; (2) a computer program product for determining at least one property of a test emulsion and/or a test suspension.
