The device has a moveable appliance with debris collector, and a debris ejector. The collector has a shaft (1) with flails (2), which rotates about a mainly horizontal axis at right angles to the direction of travel. The shaft transports collected debris to a conveyor. A spring-loaded front roller (3) is located in front of the shaft in direction of travel. The collector is covered by a top hood, which is coupled to the front roller.
