The invention relates to a catheter for draining urine from the bladder or also for draining other body fluids, which is designed such that ascending infections are largely prevented. The catheter is configured so that, when used to drain urine, it flushes the urethra with its own urine. A coating of the catheter walls with a substance that slowly dissolves in an aqueous environment ensures that the surface of the catheter wall is constantly renewed. In this way, bacteria rising in this area are flushed out again with the urine flow.
