Growth inhibitory covering comprises an opaque air- and water-permeable strip of porous matting comprising soft elastic granules bonded together with a polyurethane adhesive. The porous matting has an average pore size of 0.2-2 mm, a porosity of 10-40% and a water permeability of 1.6-9.8 km/second under a perpendicular load of 10 kN/m2.
