The electric operating drive is fitted into an opening in a base plate adjacent the model railway switching points , with the axis of the electric motor (1) positioned vertically. The electric motor is coupled to a conversion drive (2) and held in the opening via a conical clamp ring (3), a cover (4) fitted over the operating drive having a slot for a toothed rack (6) displaced linearly by a cogwheel (5) fitted to the drive output shaft.
