The orthopedic shoe has an air chamber (8) in the sole. This is fitted with an inlet (13) at the rear end through which air flows from a ventilation channel (16) mounted in the back of the shoe and open to the atmosphere at its top end. When the channel is compressed air flows through outlets in the front inner section of the sole, ventilating the foot.
