The device detects the presence and/or polarity of the motor stimulation field of an electric motor stimulated by magnetic poles (SM, NM), especially a commutator motor, using a test magnetic field influenced by the stimulation field and a test indicator showing the presence and/or polarity depending on the summation of the motor stimulation field and the test magnetic field.
