The passive safety system is for old motor driven vehicles equipped with an air bag and hazard warning lights, where the hazard warning lights are not automatically actuated when the air bag is actuated. When the vehicle crashes, assuming the air bag functions, the pulse measured by an acceleration sensor is conveyed to trigger the pyrotechnical drive system and, in parallel, is conveyed to the switching system of the hazard lights via an independent pulse cable, so as not to affect the air bag function, to activate the hazard lights. The system can only be switched off after the warning button has been pressed several times.
