A device for an automatically retractable company sign or symbol, and especially a vehicle manufacturer's sign or symbol which can be retracted as soon as the vehicle is e.g. parked - for the purpose of prevention of theft or vandalism. The symbol arrangement consists of four parts i.e. the actual manufacturer's symbol, the retraction mechanism with housing, the drive and control elements, and the recess and closure flap, the recess being sealed by a cover after the symbol is drawn in. The retraction and deployment of the symbol takes place mainly with the actuation and switch-off of the vehicle engine, or when the alarm is primed, with the retraction mechanics driven by 12V geared-motors, electronically controlled stepper motors etc., with the sealing cover driven by a spindle drive.
