The unit to condense drawn sliver, at the sliver drawing stage for a spinner, has a fiber guide edge (19) as a flow deflection edge. The air flow drawn into the suction slit (16) is given a flow component (26), directly at the fiber guide edge, which is aligned across the fiber guide edge from the suction slit, as seen in a plan view on the sliver (2). The drawn sliver condensing unit has a sharp fiber guide edge, as a component part of a thin peripheral wall of the suction channel (15). The peripheral wall is formed by a mantle shrouding around the suction channel at the fiber guide edge. The suction slit can be linked to the suction channel through a short intermediate channel, covered by a mantle shrouding at the fiber guide edge. The intermediate channel tapers or expands in the flow direction. The intermediate channel has a length which exceeds the wall thickness of the suction channel, and it can be an insert within the suction channel.
