A pressure generation device with an IC engine (1) has at least one combustion chamber (6) in which a fuel-air mixture can be compressed and combusted in the course of a combustion process by pressure development to an exhaust gas. A pressure chamber (9,10) is coupled with the combustion chamber. In the pressure chamber, a pressure can be generated by the mixture and/or the exhaust gas from the combustion chamber during or directly after the compression process and/or the combustion process. Between the combustion chamber and the pressure chamber, a first valve device (7) is provided permitting a mixture and/or an exhaust gas flow only to the pressure chamber but not back into the combustion chamber.
