The control method uses a phase-chopping control (3), with 2 equal groups of half-waves provided when the phase chopping angle is in the region of the voltage maximum, the phase angle of one group of half-waves shifted beyond the voltage maximum and the phase angle of the other group of half-waves correspondingly reduced or increased, for providing a precise rev control for the universal electric motor. An Independent claim for a rev control for a universal electric motor is also included.
