A central spindle is surrounded by circulating planetary gear spindles(3) which mesh with the internal teeth of a bush(2) inside the extruder barrel(1) and the teeth on the central spindle. The ends of the spindles slide around a supporting ring(4) at the end of the spindles in the flow direction. Melt exits the housing through an outer gap between the supporting ring and the bush. An Independent claim is made for a process using planetary gear modules having = 3 planetary spindles less than normal.
