Roller with an adjustable bending action, as a press roller, has hydrostatic mantle supports against the inner carrier in pairs flanking the press plane for an effective and controlled bending at high speeds
The roller (10), with an adjustable bending action, has a rotating roller mantle (12) around a fixed carrier (16) and hydrostatic supports between the mantle and the carrier. The support mounting (26) has at least two hydrostatic supports (28), spaced around the periphery, where at least one has movement in relation to the roller carrier. At least one force unit (30), between the mantle and the carrier, passes through the mounting ring (24) to act radially in the press plane (20). The roller with an adjustable bending action has at least one hydrostatic mantle support flanking the press plane, or at least two hydrostatic supports on both sides of the press plane. At least a part of the hydrostatic support is paired on both sides of the mounting ring, and they both have an opposing radial action. Two force units act in opposite radial directions on both sides of the mounting ring, with at least one hydraulic piston/cylinder force assembly. The mounting ring is rigid, with dimensions to form a ring gap (32) between the coaxial roller mantle and carrier. The moving support has a mounting pocket assembly (34) with a larger effective surface than the surface of the support which applies a pressure between the mounting ring and the support. The support is moved under loading up to a hard setting in the mounting ring. The mounting pocket assembly is connected to a supply of a constant volume flow of hydraulic fluid. The mounting pocket is linked to a pressure zone (48) between the support and the mounting ring by a capillary (42) through the support. The capillary dimensions are set so that, when relaxed, an initial pretension level is not breached and, a minimum gap height is achieved on a given loading level. The moving supports have a radial stroke movement against the mounting ring, which at least generally matches the shift through thermal diameter differences and/or distortions at the roller mantle or carrier through forces at the roller nip. The end surface at the ring side is curved, at least at one support. The support is contained within a cylinder zone (36), where the base has a complementary curvature to the shape of the facing end side of the support. The mounting ring is supported at one side axially at the roller mantle by at least one hydrostatic support and/or at least one hydrostatic sliding surface. The roller bearing mounting has at least one hydrostatic support on the side towards the roller, for an axial support against the roller mantle, and the other side can tilt and/or move radially at the carrier. A spring (48) is between at least one moving support and the mounting ring, as a plate spring.
