Processing of an elongated hollow cylinder component (1) made of quartz glass by means of laser radiation is described. The laser beam with radiation aligned at the cylinder inner surface (5) of the component is guided over the length of the cylinder inner surface describing at least one spiral once. The hollow cylinder component of quartz glass rotates about its longitudinal axis during the laser processing on the cylinder inner surface of the component. The hollow cylinder component is moved in the direction of its longitudinal axis during the laser processing on the cylinder inner surface of the component.
