The fastening device comprises an anchoring unit (1) with at least two relatively movable and pretensioned gripping elements (9), and a mounting rail (2) with a mounting hole (3). The anchoring unit has a housing section (10) with openings (14) for the guiding of the gripping elements. The housing section has two anchoring walls (11) extending in the longitudinal direction and which in the locked-in position each have at least two bearing points for corresponding locking protrusions on the inner sides of the walls of the mounting rail.
