The spinning machine, and especially a ring spinner with a number of spinning stations, has sliver drawing units (11) for each station with condensing zones. A twist blocking roller (15) is at the end of the condensing zone (12) away from the final press roller (14) of the drawing unit. The rotary axis (18) of the twist blocking roller and the rotary axis (19) of the suction condensing drum (13) are at an angle to each other, to form an included angle which is not 0 deg . The ring spinner sliver drawing unit has a tilting axis for the twist blocking roller, to form the angle with the condensing drum axis, which coincides with the radius of the condensing drum and the contact point between the roller and the drum. The working end of the twist blocking roller is straight, or has a concave curvature to give an extended clamping line between the roller and the drum which is longer than the axial length of the roller. The tilting axis of the twist blocking roller can be at right angles to the radius of the condensing drum, at the contact point between the roller and the drum, using a roller which is conical with an axial taper. The cone angle of the tapering roller is twice as large as the angle between the axes of the roller and the drum. The angle between the axes of the roller and the drum is 1-20 deg and preferably 5-10 deg and especially 7-8 deg . The twist blocking roller has a hard mantle surface, or the roller surface has a soft elasticity so that the surface of the condensing drum can press into it.
