The invention relates to a strand guide of a continuous casting installation, comprising guide elements (3) below a mould (1) that are equipped in particular with guide rollers (2, 2') for supporting and guiding a cast strand (4), in addition to a designated secondary cooling device for supplying the cast strand (4) with a coolant, usually water, by means of spray nozzles (5) that are directed against the guide rollers (2, 2') and/or the cast strand (4). The secondary cooling device is configured with cooling compartments (6, 6'), which are preferably subdivided into separate chambers (7, 7') along the strand guide, in accordance with their predetermined division into zones of varying cooling intensity.
