A procedure for the drive of a thrust body by means of a bi-directional linear magnet drive with at least one first and one second actuator (11-14) has the first actuator(s) provided with at least one coil (72-75) and a yoke, working together with an armature ring (62). This acts upon the thrust body in alternating fashion while the thrust body is displaced axially by the armature ring(s) that is/are turned by the engaging second actuator(s) and is subsequently fixed spatially. The thrust body is displaced in this way in stepwise fashion so far until it has reached its respective end position.
