The seal, for a piston or rod, has a sliding ring (1) in a groove (3) open towards the component (2) with a relative movement. The groove holds a press O-ring (5) of a rubber elastic material at the groove base (4), to press the sliding ring against the moving component. The sliding ring is held axially by end sides (6, 7), each with a radial groove (8, 9) and the seal has ring grooves (10, 11) cutting through the radial grooves.
