A process for detecting cell holes during foam formation in foam forming substances with recording of the sound alteration due to the holes by at least one device and assessment of the sound level with the aid of at least one evaluation unit is new. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a sound detection unit as above, including a device for recording sound alterations connected to a sound level evaluation unit; (2) a computer program with a program code for detecting, recording, and measuring the sound levels; and (3) a holder containing the sound alteration detector fixed to the holder.
