An evaluatory device segments a thorax and its surrounding area and uses an MR signal matching a noise signal in air to identify a zone between lungs and thorax detected in an exhaled condition. The detected zones are marked in colour. A window discriminator uses square segments to examine the signals for points adjacent to each other and then take the mean of these signals and make the zone with the lowest mean value into a noise level base line.
