Three points (36) spread round the ideal circumference line (34) deviate ideally from the circular (38), the number of deviating points (A) to lie in the three-unit sequence A = 3i, i = 1,2,3.......100. The line (35) is undulating and the deviation (36) should amount to between 1/5 and 1/20th of the ring-mounted friction lining. The deviation lies between 0.05 and 0.1 mm. Two rings are preferred, of which one at least conforms to the above specification.
