The treatment method has a dryer for drying the wood fibres, with a steam-gas mixture supplied to the closed drying circuit (1) and separated from the dried fibres (6) via a separator (5), for return to a heat exchanger (7), a partial flow fed off in front of the heat exchanger and warmed via a second heat exchanger (10), before being fed to the burner (11) providing the heating gas for the first heat exchanger. The partial flow is cooled via a condenser (9) in front of the second heat exchanger, with collection of the condensation (14).
