Printing or embossing a flexible material, especially a plastic sheet, or manufacturing flexible material, e.g. a synthetic leather, uses two or more coating steps performed on a conveyor belt (2). Hot material (12) is applied to the belt and cools so that it changes from a liquid or paste to a solid. The surface of the belt is fitted with a release film comprising specified polymers. The release film comprises polyether ketone, an ester, especially cellulose ester or cellulose acetate, fluoroelastomer, especially polychlorotrifluoroethylene, vinylidene fluoride-hexafluoropropylene copolymers, fluorinated silicone rubber, polyethylene-tetrafluoroethylene, polyfluoroethylenepropylene, perfluoroalkoxy, polychlorotrifluoroethylene, polyvinyl fluoride, polyvinylidene fluoride or polyethylene-chlorotrifluoroethylene. An Independent claim is also included for a conveyor belt for use in the process with a release film made from a cellulose ester, especially cellulose acetate.
