Method for determining the coverage of a collection table with bar-type material that is delivered from a conveyor belt type system. The table has carriers (2a) of which at least one is statically supported on two supports that incorporate weight gauges (3a, 3b). These detect changes in the mass when bar material (9) is added or removed and transmit signals to a computer (4) which calculates mass differences and also the position of the mass alteration relative to the two measurement points. An Independent claim is made for a device for determining the coverage of a collection table for bar- type material.
