The sealing head includes a cone (3) for fitting of the cap on the bottle, a holder to accommodate the cone, and a spring assembly. The spring assembly (9) is constructed so that during fitting of the seal on the bottle a first travel movement (H1) of the cone is made possible and during screwing down of the cap a second travel movement (H2) is made possible. During the first fitting of the cap and during screwing down of the cap different spring forces are applied to the cap, with the lesser force applied during the first fitting. An Independent claim is included for a procedure for the sealing of especially bottles.
