The lap winder assembly, to produce wound lap rolls (W), has at least one guide to feed the lap web (1) to a winder (WV) to form a lap roll around a core (H). The drive (8) is reversible. The lap guides (20,21) can be positioned in relation to the lap winder. The lap winder assembly, to form wound laps, has at least one sensor (5) in the movement zone of the lap guides, linked to a control unit (ST) which controls the winder drive. The guide, with an adjustable length, has a swing plate linked to a swing system. The lap winder has a continuous belt (R), and the lap web is formed into two loops (2) between two deflection rollers (R1,R2).
