The rotary piston engine driven by hydrogen and oxygen in accordance with Patent No. 196 28 785 A1 has a hermetically sealed combustion chamber sealed against leakage. To this aim, sealing strips are installed on the roll surfaces and on the end faces of the pistons (7,8). The sealing strips on the end faces are not located on the piston centers but somewhat offset yet parallel to the axis so that water can flow out centrally and wet the pistons on the end faces. These sealing strips slide parallel over sealing strips lying on the casing side, and have to be pressed against the casing wall by plate springs.
