Heating line of stretch blow molding plant for PET bottles, includes reflector opposite bank of infra red lamps which has cooling surfaces and/or forced cooling
The opposite reflector (9) has cooling surfaces and/or forced cooling. The injection molded preforms (P1, P2) are heated by a planar row of halogen lamps (23) forming IR sources. These emit useful radiation in the 0.8-1.5 mu m waveband, and have main- (17) and opposite reflectors (9), with additional head and foot reflectors forming a closed radiation chamber (5). Main reflector sections are approximately W-shaped at each lamp, symmetrically about the lamp center. The opposite reflector is preferably solid metal, close (25 mm) to the preform. Between sources and preforms there is a silica glass screen (7), separating the reflector and conveying regions. Main- and opposite reflectors are forced-cooled, the main reflector being water cooled. A line radiator, preferably a lengthy halogen lamp with part-elliptical reflector, heats the base of the preform. Reflectors are e.g. solid aluminum profile, with cooling channels included. A series of these is arranged mutually-parallel. The opposite reflector has a blower for cooling.
