The tool comprises a cover part(2) and a component supporting part(1) which when closed form a cavity(4) to hold the component(5) to be coated. When closed the two parts seal against each other on the land faces(3) and leave a space(4) around the component to form a coating chamber. The latter chamber connects with a feed line(8) and reservoir for fluid coating material in the sealing surface. Independent claims are made for: a) a composite product to be coated which has a surface covered with a carrier film(10) of greater area than that to be coated and held between the opposing sealing faces of the closed tool; b) a use of the claimed composite product for creating a coated product; c) a process for coating a product using the claimed equipment; d) a coated product produced by the claimed process; e) a use of the claimed coated products in automobile or furniture manufacture.
