Organopolysiloxane resins which are readily soluble in liquid organopolysiloxane compounds, for use in all normal applications, are based on units with long-chain, silicon-carbon linked hydrocarbyl groups
Organopolysiloxane resins based on units in which a certain proportion of the silicon-carbon linked organic groups comprise optionally substituted hydrocarbyl groups with at least 8 carbon atoms and the remainder are optionally substituted 1-7C hydrocarbyl. Organopolysiloxane resins consisting of units of formula (I) RaR1bXcSiO(4-a-b-c)/2 (I) R = SiC-linked, optionally substituted hydrocarbyl with at least 8 carbon atoms; R1 = SiC-linked, optionally substituted 1-7C hydrocarbyl; X = halogen or -OR2; R2 = H or 1-6C hydrocarbyl; a, b, c = 0, 1, 2 or 3; (a+b+c) = not more than 3; (a+b) = 1 in at least 50% of these units; and b = 0 in at least 5% of these units. An Independent claim is also included for compositions containing (A) silicone resins as above; and (B) liquid (at room temperature) organopolysiloxanes based on units of formula (II) R3dYcSiO(4-d-c)/2 (II) R3 = H, or SiC-linked optionally substituted 1-6C hydrocarbyl; Y = as for X; and d, e = 0, 1, 2 or 3.
