Ground animal residues sterilised by steam above a temperature threshold on a moving bed with continual temperature monitor

In a process to monitor the correct heat sterilisation of finely ground animal residues arising from slaughterhouse wastes, the ground wastes and water pass along a heated moving bed which raises the temperature to above a given threshold and the temperature is continually monitored. The ground and mixed animal residues are steam heated in a bank of rotating tubes. Alternatively the residues are heated by hot oil. Moisture expelled from the residues is trapped and subjected to repeat heat treatment. Before commencement of the waste sterilisation process, the sterilisation chamber is itself sterilised by hot water and steam. The correct functioning of the process is monitored by one or more temperature sensors. A record of the temperature profile is captured through an RS 232 interface and kept for subsequent inspection. Following heat treatment the animal residues are cooled.
