The system has a face detector for finding several face characteristics and rendering each of them as an invariant vector in an invariant space. A face recognition unit calculates the distance between the invariant vectors of the characteristics and a set of invariant faces stored in a memory, and produces a reliability coefficient based on the distance. An Independent claim is included for a face recognition method.
