The method for producing a definite degree of play between two components, e.g. of a ball (3) and socket (4) joint, comprises inserting the ball in the socket and injecting curable material around it. The desired degree of play is produced by applying a sonotrode (9) to the end of the shaft, producing axial vibrations (10) during injection and/or curing.
